Let's be honest: 2025 was rough in Lubbock. 20-33 overall, worst record since 1985. But this brings opportunity.
Here's what's happening behind the scenes that most people don't know: Tim Tadlock and his staff added 27 new players this offseason (13 of them were high school players). They brought in 16 new pitchers specifically to fix that ERA problem.
Robin Villeneuve (Second Team All-Big 12, .365 avg, 12 HRs) got an extra year of eligibility and is back. Logan Hughes led the Big 12 in home runs (19 HRs, .333 avg) and returns as a junior. The pieces are there. The talent is coming. And Lubbock in 2026 is going to look very different than 2025.
2027 Current Commits:
Mariano Gonzalez LHP
Jake Berry - LHP
Luke Donaldson - 1B
Zachary Lepine - C
William Walbridge - 1B
Beckam Whiteside - 1B
2028 Current Commits: They are actively evaluating and recruiting players leading up to the summer commitment.
13 JUCO players on the 2026 roster—that's the Texas Tech DNA. Tadlock built his reputation finding diamonds in the JUCO ranks and developing them into winners. Here's a taste of what's coming:
Nate Ferraro & Andrew Quintanar (Blinn College teammates): Combined 33 home runs in 2025
Andrew Quintanar (C): .407 avg, 15 HRs, 57 RBIs at Blinn
Ryan Free (RHP): Back at Texas Tech after 5-1, 3.44 ERA season at Angelo State
These aren't projects—these are proven winners at their level ready to compete in the Big 12.

About Alex
Meet your college baseball recruiting specialist: Alex Swenson.
As a high school baseball player, I navigated the college recruiting process all on my own. Despite average statistics, I landed a spot on a Division-1 baseball team Jacksonville University, where I became a 3-time team captain. Post-college, I became a D1 coach, scout, and recruiter at Georgetown University and Ole Miss, where we won an SEC championship.
After experiencing the process as both recruit and recruiter, I’ve successfully dissected the best strategies to connect with college coaches and draw offers from them.
Receive professional direction from Alex himself until your son commits to his desired school. A step-by-step action plan will be provided with strategic small-group coaching meetings every 2 weeks to ensure we are making progress. Included is a baseball networking platform that connects him to coaches, optimizes his exposure to scouts, alerts him to college camps and showcases, and MUCH MORE.
