College Spotlight: University of Texas Baseball 2026
I coached Division I baseball for years, and one thing you learn quickly is that having talent and resources doesn't automatically make you a great program.
Texas has always had talent and resources, but what stands out under Jim Schlossnagle is what the program is doing with that talent.
In his first two seasons in Austin, Texas has won 90 games, captured an SEC regular-season title, earned a national seed, and reached Omaha in 2026.
The key now is player development, roster management, and sustained success.
Before we get into the program, here's a quick look at their recruiting classes:

The 2029 Recruiting Class:
No commits yet, but coaches are evaluating.
So there's already a large 2027 class on the board, while the 2028 is growing and the list of players in the 2029 class is being built.
That doesn't tell us exactly what Texas needs, but it gives families an important snapshot of where each recruiting class currently stands.
Disclaimer: Premier Athletes cannot 100% guarantee the accuracy of the verbal college commitments listed. Commitments only include those that Premier is aware of.
Why Texas?
Texas went 46-15 in 2026, earned the No. 6 national seed, swept its Regional and Super Regional, and made its 39th trip to Omaha.
But one stat from that season really stands out to me:
100+ home runs and 100+ stolen bases.
Texas became the first Power Four program in the BBCOR era to do both in the same season.
As a former D1 coach, that tells me a lot about the type of roster they're building: powerful, athletic, and capable of beating you in different ways.
And Jim Schlossnagle has shown he can build that kind of program consistently.
Year 1 at Texas: 44 wins + SEC regular-season title
Year 2: 46 wins + College World Series
90 wins in two seasons.
Add that to Texas' 6 national championships and NCAA-record 39 College World Series appearances, and you have a program with both history and current success.
But there's another side families need to understand.
Texas can recruit almost anyone.
High-level high school players, transfers, pitchers, position players.
Competition for playing time is going to be serious.
That's why I wouldn't tell a family to pursue Texas simply because they love the program.
I'd want to know: Can your athlete play at this level, does he fit what Texas recruits, and is there a realistic opportunity in his class?
Academically, we're currently tracking:
Average GPA: 3.68
Acceptance Rate: 26.64%
In-State Tuition: $11,688
Out-of-State Tuition: $44,908
If the baseball, academics, finances and college experience line up, Texas is absolutely a program worth considering.
That's what we help families figure out inside the Premier Athletes Baseball Recruiting Program.
We look beyond the school name and evaluate where your athlete actually fits, which programs make sense, and how to get him in front of those coaches.
If your athlete’s goal is college baseball, book a recruiting call with me. We'll review your athlete situation and see whether this is a good fit.
To your son's success.

About Alex
Meet your college baseball recruiting specialist: Alex Swenson.
As a high school baseball player, I navigated the college recruiting process all on my own. Despite average statistics, I landed a spot on a Division-1 baseball team Jacksonville University, where I became a 3-time team captain. Post-college, I became a D1 coach, scout, and recruiter at Georgetown University and Ole Miss, where we won an SEC championship.
After experiencing the process as both recruit and recruiter, I’ve successfully dissected the best strategies to connect with college coaches and draw offers from them.
Receive professional direction from Alex himself until your son commits to his desired school. A step-by-step action plan will be provided with strategic small-group coaching meetings every 2 weeks to ensure we are making progress. Included is a baseball networking platform that connects him to coaches, optimizes his exposure to scouts, alerts him to college camps and showcases, and MUCH MORE.
