There’s one Georgia number that still stands out to me.
They went on the road five times in SEC play. Every opponent was ranked. They won every series.
No SEC program had ever done that before.
I’ve coached and recruited at this level. Winning one weekend on the road in the SEC is hard enough. Doing it five times against ranked teams says a lot about what Wes Johnson has built.
Georgia just finished 53-14 with a program-record win total, the SEC regular-season title, the program’s first SEC Tournament championship, and a trip back to Omaha (tied for third, final No. 3 ranking).
Wes is in year three. They’ve been a national top-eight seed every season under him, and the school just extended him through 2032.
This isn’t a program still searching for direction.
The development piece is what I care about most.
Thirteen players drafted in 2026, more than any other program.
That’s the real test: what happens after the talent arrives.
Disclaimer: Premier Athletes cannot 100% guarantee the accuracy of the verbal college commitments listed. Commitments only include those that Premier is aware of.
Looking at the board we’re currently tracking:
2027 7 commitments so far (1 INF, 0 C, 2 OF, 1 LHP, 3 RHP) Names include Max Phillips, Carson Bruce, Tyler Scarborough, Aidan Kent, Aiden Pack, Brodie Campbell, and Amaree Griffin.
No catcher yet on the public 2027 board. The junior class has two.
That doesn’t mean Georgia automatically “needs” a 2027 catcher, but if I’m working with a catcher who can play SEC baseball, it’s enough to ask the right questions.
I use the commitment list to decide what to investigate, not to guess what a school needs.
Pitching follows the same logic. Three known 2027 RHPs already on the board, plus a large group of right-handers moving through the current junior class.
At a program that just moved 13 players into pro ball, roster movement happens quickly. Handedness, role, velocity, and depth ahead/behind the athlete matter more than raw numbers.
2028s: They are wide open for recruiting.
One more thing recruits and MLB clubs notice: Charlie Condon won both the Golden Spikes and Dick Howser in 2024. Daniel Jackson did the same in 2026. Georgia is the only program with a player winning both awards in two of the last three seasons.
When a family says Georgia is a dream school, my next question isn’t whether the player loves Georgia. I assume he does.
The real question is whether Georgia has a legitimate reason to love him: fit, profile, development path, and realistic opportunity.
Academically the school is selective (roughly 33,400 undergrads, 17:1 ratio, ~37% acceptance).
In-state tuition runs about $11,180; out-of-state about $30,220 based on the data we’re working with.
Baseball fit, academic fit, financial fit, and roster fit all have to line up.
A player can love everything about Georgia and still be the wrong target. Or he can have the ability, academics, and positional profile that make it worth pursuing hard.
Knowing which one you are is the important part.
That’s what we help families figure out.
We don’t hand out lists of famous schools. We look at the athlete, the roster, the board, his level, and where real opportunity may exist, then build the plan to get in front of the right coaches.
At Georgia, wanting their attention is easy. Giving the staff a reason to pay attention is the hard part.

About Alex
Meet your college baseball recruiting specialist: Alex Swenson.
As a high school baseball player, I navigated the college recruiting process all on my own. Despite average statistics, I landed a spot on a Division-1 baseball team Jacksonville University, where I became a 3-time team captain. Post-college, I became a D1 coach, scout, and recruiter at Georgetown University and Ole Miss, where we won an SEC championship.
After experiencing the process as both recruit and recruiter, I’ve successfully dissected the best strategies to connect with college coaches and draw offers from them.
Receive professional direction from Alex himself until your son commits to his desired school. A step-by-step action plan will be provided with strategic small-group coaching meetings every 2 weeks to ensure we are making progress. Included is a baseball networking platform that connects him to coaches, optimizes his exposure to scouts, alerts him to college camps and showcases, and MUCH MORE.
